Where to change your handle, and why it locks once readers use your links.

When your handle locks
Your handle locks as soon as readers start using your links: the first vote on any of your topics, or the first counted open of one of your Embed blocks. After that, Settings shows the handle with a lock and it can’t be edited.
Every link you’ve sent starts with your handle. If it changed, all of them would stop recording votes, and readers who clicked would see an error instead of a thank-you page. A topic’s URL locks for the same reason, see Why can’t I change my topic’s URL?
Pick it before your first issue
Set the handle you want before you send your first issue with IssuePulse links. Until then you can change it as often as you like.
