Troubleshooting
Votes look too high or too low
Why vote counts might not match what you expect, and what IssuePulse filters out.
Updated
Lower than expected
- Scanner filtering. Email security tools click every link in a message before a person does. IssuePulse drops clicks from known scanners and prefetchers. That’s deliberate: a slightly low count beats one inflated by robots.
- Placement. Links at the very bottom of a long issue get fewer clicks. Try placing them at the end of the main section, with a one-line question above.
- Five links. Too many choices can lower clicks. Try three links.
Higher than expected
- Your own test clicks count as votes.
- Repeat clicks. Votes don’t need a reader account, so a reader who clicks two links casts two votes.
- A new scanner. If you see a burst of votes seconds after sending, across every link at once, a scanner we don’t recognise yet may be involved. Email hello@issuepulse.io with the topic and time so we can add it to the filter.
